Gilded Asheville: Day 2

Students took in the magnificent views after we arrived at the Biltmore Estate this morning.

We took the opportunity for a nice group shot before we entered the Biltmore House.

Some of the students' favorite rooms were George Vanderbilt's library, holding over 10,000 books;...

...the banquet hall, containing five 16th century tapestries;...

...and the winter garden, with the bronze "Boy Stealing Geese" by Karl Bitter in the center.

Following our tour of the Biltmore interiors, students stepped out onto a terrace to enjoy the exterior views of the estate.

There is a wide variety of statuary on the Biltmore grounds.

We walked down to George Vanderbilt's bass pond and took a photo at the waterfall.

We climbed back toward the House so that we could drive to Antler Hill Farm.

Jozef's new friend.

Taylor got to hold a rooster named "Sizzle" at the Antler Hill Farm on the estate grounds.

Students enjoyed interacting with the animals in the Antler Hill farmyard, including these goats.

We ended our evening at Tingles Cafe in downtown Asheville where we enjoyed the cow paraphernalia.  A few of us even enjoyed "Black Cows," a drink made with root beer, chocolate syrup, and vanilla ice cream.
